A freshman in college can have his/her own fears that can hamper their college life. Earlier parts of this article explained eight such commonly held fears and how to get rid of them or handle them. This is part 4 of this series where two more freshman fears are explained.
Freshman Fear #9: I can't even do my own cooking or laundry. How will I survive?
Again, look at every challenge in college as an opportunity to learn. Anyone at home could explain you how to do your laundry. You could learn cooking by watching cooking shows, reading recipes from a book or internet, or you could make it fun and interesting by learning together with your friends. Cooking is an art which gets better with practice. So keep practicing and you will eventually get around it. As it is said, put your heart in the right place and everything will work out just fine.
Freshman Fear #10: College is not fun ?it is stressful!
Yes a college is a stressful place. However, remember that although the situation may not be in your hands, you can choose how you react to it. So although college is a stressful place, it is not necessary for you to get stressed since it is something that you can handle if you know how to. Stress management is another important skill that you could learn during college and which would give you the competitive edge during your career. There are many books available on stress management including simple well-known tips like meditation and deep breathing. Internet also has many sources on the same. Check them out and see which stress management tips work best for you.
